Starting in early 2025 Nine Realms Canine Training will offer a Shadow Program to select individuals.
Over the years I have had many dog owners, enthusiasts, budding trainers, or experienced trainers ask to shadow and learn about what Nine Realms’ trains for, how to get into working dog training, or just grow their knowledge. I confess that I have dropped the ball in this area and let folks down. This was partialy due to not having a proper set up for the program and partially due to indivuals not respecting my time and knowledge, taking advantage of free information and free shadowing. This led to me not offering any type of shadow opportunities for a long time.
In an attempt to help folks get into similar work that Nine Realms offers, and also taking into consideration my time and knowledge offered, I am now starting the Nine Realms’ Shadow Program. This will be a pilot Shadow Program. It will evolve in scope, set up, and cost as I determine the best way to meet folks needs. Costs may decrease for more serious shadow students.
Those interested in shadowing and learning about Nine Realms’ training methods must email karinwagemannk9@gmail.com with a short bio and answer the following questions:
- Why are you interested in shadowing Nine Realms?
- How did you hear about Nine Realms?
- What experience, if any, do you have with dog training?
- Are you currently a dog trainer?
- Elaborate on your dog training background, if any.
- What are looking to learn by shadowing?
- Do you have dogs of your own? If so please elaborate.
- How much time do you want to commit to a shadow program?
At this time two options are availble for shadowing. At this time, Nine Realms’ will offer only a couple Basic Shadow Levels and one Intermediate Shadow Level as the program begins its pilot.
Basic Shadow
Individuals can shadow trainer Karin Wagemann for the day. Shadows will be able to watch the training of various types of working dogs in the Nine Realms’ program. Shadows can help with laying tracks, hiding detection odors, and other obedience and service dog skills. Questions can be asked and answered. At this level there is no speciffic course material, or dog training information specifically taught.
Cost: $75/shadow session or $275 for four shadow sessions.
Intermediate Shadow
Individuals can shadow trainer Karin Wagemann for the entire day. This includes shadowing during training of the Nine Realms’ dogs as well as client lessons. Shadows will be able to watch the training of various types of working dogs in the Nine Realms’ program. Shadows can help with laying tracks, hiding detection odors, and other obedience and service dog skills. They will also be able to shadow along for Nine Realms’ client sessions and watch training with clients in real time. Questions can be asked and answered in much greater depth. At this level there is no specfic course material taught but shadows will watch and learn all information taught to clients during lessons.
Cost: $125/shadow session or $450 for four shadow sessions.
Shadow Policies:
In order to be considered for the Shadowed program, individuals must send in an email with all questions answered. Sending an email does not guarantee a spot in the Shadow Program.
Shadows must start with the Basic Shadow Level at the one session cost to start. This will help determine if the Shadow is a good fit for the Nine Realms’ Shadow Program.
All Shadow Programs must be paid for and scheduled in advance.
No shows or cancelations on the scheduled shadow day shall be considered as a used shadow session.
All paid shadow sessions are nonrefundable and must be used within a month of purchase.
